Two men have confessed to breaking into seven vehicles after they were caught in the act of breaking into one Thursday morning in Woodstone subdivision.
Capt. Ron Ruple with Mandeville Police said an officer was patrolling the subdivision at approximately 3 a.m. when he noticed two individuals in the driveway of one of the homes.
He was able to detain one but the other fled the area. He was later located at a nearby apartment.
Inside that apartment, officers found items stolen during recently reported and unreported car burglaries in the city.
Adrian Adels, 21, 680 Nancy Street, Mandeville, was caught holding the tool used to break into the vehicles. He was charged with three counts of vehicle burglary and one count of illegal carrying of burglary tools.
Dylan Baker, 19, 423 River Oaks, Covington, was charged with three counts of vehicle burglary and one count of resisting an officer.
Ruple said both men face at least four more vehicle burglary charges, which will be applied once officer identify the victims.
The two confessed to breaking into two vehicles in Woodstone, one known vehicle burglary in Fontainebleau Subdivision as well as four others that had not been reported to police.
He said unlike most vehicle burglaries that occur in the city, which most of the time involve unlocked cars, in these cases, the vehicles were all locked and broken into.
