NEW DELHI: Amid anxieties about new guidelines of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), India will press the US for the transfer of sensitive technologies to enable full civilian cooperation when secretary of state Hillary Clinton comes to New Delhi for a strategic dialogue July 18.
Washington: US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who will be visiting India from July 19 for second Indo-US Strategic Dialogue in New Delhi, will also be travelling to Chennai. Clinton would be leading a high-powered US delegation, comprising of officials from various departments, with the focus on giving a new thrust to the relationship between the two countries.
“The depth of the US-India Strategic Dialogue demonstrates the United States’ strong support for India as an important actor on the world stage and is representative of the broad and multifaceted US-India relationship,” State Department spokesperson, Victoria Nuland, said. Clinton will be visiting India from July 19 to July 20.
The partnership between the world’s two largest democracies covers issues ranging from counter terrorism and defence cooperation to climate change, high-tech trade, and scientific innovation, she said. “Together, the US and India are working to face the most important and pressing challenges of our time,” Nuland said.
