Prosecutor drops charges that St. Paul man dragged woman into alley, tried to grope her, Prosecutors have dismissed charges against a St. Paul man accused of dragging a woman into a St. Paul alley and trying to grope her.

Cha Yang's trial was set to begin in front of Ramsey County District Judge Joanne Smith this morning.

But prosecutor Sarah Cory said the state was dropping the case.

Paul Gustafson, spokesman for the Ramsey County attorney's office, said there was not enough evidence.

"As the case progressed and some additional information came to our attention that was not available at the time of charging, we determined that...at this point we believe there is insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty of the crime charged," Gustafson said.

He declined to elaborate on the additional information.
